    Carpal tunnel syndrome is quite a common condition which causes numbness, tingling and a painful sensation in finders and hands. Your carpal tunnel is a channel in your wrist that tendons and nerves pass through. If pressure is placed on the carpal tunnel, symptoms in the hand can be produced.

    Carpal tunnel syndrome is considered a repetitive strain injury but other factors such as trauma or injury to the wrist, rheumatoid arthritis, mechanical problems in the wrist and fluid retention can contribute. The thumb, index finger, half of the ring finger and middle finger are most often affected.
