    The spine has natural curves which help you to balance as you sit upright, walk and move. The vertebral column can sometimes develop deformed or exaggerated curves resulting in conditions such as scoliosis, excessive lordosis or kyphosis; these can be termed deformities or postural abnormalities. Other postural abnormalities include sway back and a flat lower back. Postural abnormalities can cause pain due to stiffness and abnormal load on areas of the spine.

    Depending on the severity of your postural abnormality you may need to be seen by a doctor however very often for children and adults, exercises can be very effective at correcting posture and improving alignment of the spine.
